Welcome to the website of Most Precious Blood Church!
Most Precious Blood is a Roman Catholic Church located in the
city of Hazleton, Pennsylvania. This church is part of the Diocese of Scranton and is led
by the Rev. Anthony J. Generose, Pastor.
The
mission of Most Precious Blood Parish, a community of faith for
over a century, is dedicated to worship and prayer. We are committed to radiate
the life and love of God to each other. We extend our hands to those persons who
are most in need.
Pope Francis has announced ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ is the theme for the Holy Year 2025. A Holy Year, or Jubilee, is a time of pilgrimage, prayer, repentance, and acts of mercy, based on the Old Testament tradition of a Jubilee Year of rest, forgiveness, and renewal.
Bishop Joseph C. Bambera will lead a Pilgrimage to Italy and Rome from Aug. 31-Sept. 9, 2025, in celebration of the Holy Year. The trip will include a Papal Audience, Masses celebrated daily at various Basilicas and Cathedrals, a unique opportunity to visit the Scavi, a tour of the necropolis under St. Peter’s Basilica culminating at the tomb of St. Peter, and much more.

On Thursday March 3, 2022, a "Masking Recommended" policy will take effect in our religious education program. Beginning on this date, masks will be recommended, not required. Between now and then, we can plan and monitor the factors which influence making rationale. Of course, after the transition, there will still be a reason to require a mask such as when an individual contracts COVID-19 or if someone has encountered a person with a confirmed case of COVID-19. Obviously, if a spike in cases in the community returns, so will the mask requirement policy. Please discuss this in your families and in the classroom so we may all be informed and understood. All other measures will remain in place, including, proper hand hygiene, regular cleaning and disinfecting procedures and proper distancing as classroom space allows. Anyone who is sick or symptomatic should remain at home. Thank you for your cooperation!
In order to properly prepare for marriage, it is expected that the couple contact the pastor before making other arrangements for the wedding. This initial contact should be at least six months prior to the desired date of marriage.
The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated by appointment on Sundays during the month. Expectant parents must be registered, active members of Most Precious Blood Church for at least six months. Please call the rectory for details.
